ATP Los Cabos predictions for 2

Monday’s match saw the first fall in Los Cabos as Quentin Halys lost in straight sets to Ricardas Berankis. Three more seeds will take the court on Tuesday hoping to avoid a similar fate. Top seeds Daniil Medvedev and Felix Auger-Aliassime they’ve only been in action since Wednesday and we need to determine who they might face first. We do just that in this first set of ATP Los Cabos Day 2 predictions.

ATP Los Cabos predictions for 2

Facundo Bagnis vs Ernesto Escobedo

Head-to-head: 1 – 0 Bagnis

Both are clay court specialists who are not expected to challenge for a title in Los Cabos. Still, with a relatively weekly draw outside the top four seeds, there are opportunities to pick up valuable points. Facundo Bagnis he comes into the tournament with some form and is the favorite here. Ernesto Escobedo is winless in his last seven matches and has never managed to crack the top 100 in the men’s game. Bagnis should win here easily enough.

Prediction: Bagnis in 3

Yannick Hanfmann vs Jordan Thompson

Head-to-head: First meeting

Neither player comes into this tournament with great form, although Yannick Hanfmann did put in a nice display last week in Kitzbühel. The German was constantly hovering around the top 100 for most of his career without ever consistently crossing the bridge. Still, he is a talented player who can cause serious problems. Jordan Thompson certainly won’t be happy to face him. Aussie has a dry year so far and he’s no doubt looking for a kind mover to help right the ship in the second half of 2022. He’s the better player here, but not by much. This one should go the distance and could go either way, but I like the Thompsons’ chances to win here.

Prediction: Thompson in 3rd

Radu Albot vs Feliciano Lopez

Head-to-head: 1 – 0 Albot

Feliciano Lopez’s career is almost over. The Spaniard has only managed one victory on grass, his preferred surface. The win was also his only win of 2022 in the 20 matches he has played so far. The tennis world gives him a good laugh when he decides to hang up. Until then, he is likely to suffer more and it is no different here. Radu Albot is a solid player who has shown good signs in recent months after struggling a bit last year. The diminutive Moldovan is a good player on hard courts and a tricky opponent. Lopez will have to serve great just to stay this close. Even in this case, the win from the beloved Spaniard is too big.

Prediction: Albot in 2

Brandon Nakashima vs Kaichi Uchida

Head-to-head: First meeting

Kaichi Uchida is in something of a purple spot right now. He is currently ranked 175th in the world. The Japanese player has never finished a year in the top 200, but with four months on tour, he has a real chance in 2022. That said, a deep run here looks unlikely. He will face Brandon Nakashima in the first round and the American is a rising star in the men’s game. Nakashima has a great game on hard courts and has made a powerful impact on the tour in recent months. He is seeded here and on the verge of a top 50 debut in the men’s game. It’s only a matter of time before he breaks this barrier and he should move one step closer to victory here.

Prediction: Nakashima in 2nd
